Do You Need Ceremony Audio at Your Wedding?

Of everything couples add to a booking, ceremony audio is the one they add most often. It is also the one most people do not think about until someone raises it.
What it actually covers
Sound for the part of the day where the words matter most. Your vows, your officiant, your readings, your processional and recessional music — and the technical support to make sure all of it is heard by everyone sitting there, not just the front two rows.
The part that surprises people
Couples book this even when they have live musicians. That catches people off guard, so it is worth explaining.
A guitarist or a string trio produces a beautiful sound. What they do not provide is a microphone for your officiant, a lapel mic for your partner, sound reinforcement for the back row, or someone whose job is to make sure the whole thing is audible outdoors, with wind moving through it.
Live musicians play. Ceremony audio makes sure everyone hears what happens — including the musicians. Those are different jobs, and one does not cover the other.
Where it matters most
Outdoors. An unamplified voice loses to open air, wind, a highway in the distance, and thirty metres of lawn — every single time. Fraser Valley couples get married outside constantly, and outside is exactly where an unamplified ceremony falls apart.
Indoors it depends on the room. Some spaces carry a voice on their own. Plenty do not.
What it sounds like when it is missing
The couple can hear everything. The officiant can hear everything. The front three rows are fine.
Row eight onward gets a mime show. They watch you say something, they see the reaction up front, and they take the emotional cue from everyone else. Then it turns up in the video the same way — you can see the moment; you cannot hear it.
Nobody complains about this on the day. It just quietly does not land for a good portion of the room.
How to decide
Ask yourself three things: Are you outdoors? Are your vows personal enough that you want them heard? Is anyone doing a reading?
Two yeses and it is worth the add-on.
Our Ceremony Audio add-on costs $475.
